UPDATE FROM AIDAN’S FAMILY:
Aidan is still riding at least 4 days a week but not propelling it independently…yet. He is so close and enjoys riding his tricycle….look at his smile. Thank you! Please share this with all involved…..very special people in the world like you and your organization members that give so much for the children in Indiana make me hopeful and give me strength. Aidan is attending 3 Physical Therapy, 3 Occupational Therapy, 2 Speech therapies, therapeutic horse riding and pool therapy once a week on top of his activities home with us….riding tricycle, gait trainer, standing in a stander. Thank you seems so little for the help you have provided, I know God will repay you all so much more.
Four year old Aidan has diplegic cerebral palsy. He had a procedure in St. Louis in September of 2013 to try to alleviate some of his pain and now attends physical therapy 4 days a week. While in therapy in St. Louis, Aidan rode an adaptive tricycle which helped him physically as much as it did emotionally.
Aidan’s parents try to give their non-verbal son every chance they can to walk, and knew an adaptive tricycle was just the thing he needed at home. However, Aidan’s parents couldn’t afford the out of pocket expense, and insurance and other aid wasn’t available to help cover the costs.
HCCI was able to help Aidan and his family when no other alternative could be found. Aidan was given an adaptive tricycle and he looks like any other little boy riding his bike! He loves being pushed around the house on it and his family is confident that by spring he will be able to propel the tricycle himself. The adaptive tricycle has even been integrated into his therapy regimen four times a week. Aidan and his family are grateful that HCCI could help give Aidan this gift and a chance at walking when no other source could.
